Ducks’ Johnston fined for roughing Kraken’s Kartye

Published:

Anaheim Ducks forward Ross Johnston has been fined $2,864.58 for roughing Seattle Kraken forward Tye Kartye, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced on Tuesday.

The fine is the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement.

Kartye and Ducks star forward Cutter Gauthier got into a skirmish halfway through the third period of the Kraken’s 3-1 win on Monday with both players getting two-minute roughing penalties.

In the dying seconds of the frame, Johnston took a swipe at Kartye with his gloves on during a stoppage of play, leading to another skirmish between the two clubs.

Johnston was handed a two-minute roughing penalty and a game misconduct for the play while Kartye was also given a game misconduct.

The 6-foot-5 forward has two goals and 10 points in 36 games along with 62 penalty minutes with the Ducks this season.

Anaheim sits in first place in the Pacific Division with a 21-14-2 record, two points ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers.
